Pick the length: how many stickers?
- 10 spots for toddlers and first-ever charts. Done in a few days, so the reward stays connected to the effort.
- 20 to 30 spots for a goal of two to four weeks, like "dressed by myself" or "teeth brushed morning and night".
- 100 spots for long projects: 100 days of reading, piano practice or dry nights. Milestones every 25 give small wins on the way.
- A month calendar when the goal is "once a day": one sticker per day it happened, empty days stay empty.
Sticker sizes on each chart
| Chart | Spaces | Spot size (printed at 100%) |
|---|---|---|
| Toddler sticker chart | 10 | 1⅜ in, fits 1- to 1¼-inch stickers |
| Sticker path | 20 | 1 in |
| 30-sticker chart | 30 | 1 in |
| Potty chart | 28 + 7 stars | 0.64 in on Letter, 0.71 in on A4: ⅝-inch stickers or a dot marker |
| Reward jar | 24 | ¾ in (slightly larger on A4) |
| 100-sticker chart | 100 | ½ in, or a dot marker |
Office round labels in 1-inch and ¾-inch sizes are cheap and come in sheets of hundreds; kids can color them first. On the 10-, 20-, 30- and 100-spot charts, A4 spots are exactly the same size as on Letter. On picture charts (jar, potty, apple tree, ice cream) A4 spots come out slightly larger.
Using a sticker chart for potty training
The potty chart has four "try" spots a day and a star for a dry day, so you can reward trying, not only success. Put it in the bathroom at your child's eye level and let them stick the sticker on straight away. Never remove a sticker after an accident; the chart only records wins. If your child seems scared, holds on, has pain or hard stools, or is still having daytime accidents long after their friends, talk to your pediatrician before pushing harder.
No stickers in the house?
Every spot works with a crayon, a stamp or a bingo dot marker. Laminated charts take dry-erase dots and removable stickers, so you can reuse the same sheet.
Questions
What size stickers do I need?
The sticker path and 30-sticker chart take 1-inch stickers, the toddler chart 1- to 1¼-inch, the reward jar ¾-inch, the potty chart ⅝-inch, and the 100-sticker chart ½-inch dots. Print at 100% so the sizes stay true.
Can I reuse a sticker chart?
Laminate it or put it in a sheet protector, then use removable stickers or dry-erase dots. Or just print a fresh one; they're free.
How long does a sticker chart take to fill?
At one or two stickers a day: the 10-spot chart takes about a week, the 30-spot chart three to four weeks, the 100-spot chart a few months. Pick the length that matches how long your child can wait.
